This was my first experience ordering any desi dress online! I was very nervous, but after going down the rabbit hole looking all over for the right lehenga, I finally settled on this lehenga from Lashkaraa. I really wanted a tissue lehenga to wear to an upcoming wedding reception.
I had no idea what to expect and missed the "custom measurements" tab completely and therefore accidentally inserted a few wrong measurements. I ordered the lehenga on November 13, and received a "stitching update" email from their customer support on November 15 noting that their tailor believed a few of the measurements could be off. The recommendations I received were:
1. adjusting the blouse length from 12 inches to 13 inches. [Adjusted]
2. adjusting the front neck depth from 5.5 inches to 8 inches. [Adjusted -- I really should have followed the measuring guide]
3. adjusting the shoulder width from 6 inches to 14 inches. [I really, really should have followed the measuring guide. But I did not adjust to 14 inches. I measured at 17 inches.]
4. adjusting the around waist from 32 inches to 31 inches. [Adjusted]
5. adjusting the around hips from 34 inches to 39 inches. [Adjusted]
6. adjusting the skirt length from 38 inches to 40 inches. [Adjusted to 39 inches]
The gave me 24 hours to respond either accepting or rejecting the proposed measurements. I emailed back agreeing to most of the adjustments, however noted that my shoulders would need to be 17 inches [this is after I measured based on the measuring guide that I did not use the first time around], and I wanted the skirt length at 38.5 inches. I honestly really liked that they sent recommendations and confirmed the measurements with me.
They replied again, this time pushing me to agree to their tailor's measurement suggestions and included the measurement guide for me. I did the measurements again, for a third time and agreed that I would like my skirt to be 39 inches but was adamant on my 17 inch shoulder width. Again, they responded to tell me their tailor suggests a measurement of 14 inches. Again, still thankful they reached out to confirm, but I pointed out that I had measured myself three times and the shoulder width of 17 inches was correct. Finally, they reconfirmed the adjusted measurements and accepted the 17 inch shoulder width. Darshik was the person who communicated with me regarding the measurements and I understand he was just trying to make sure the measurements were right because it is a custom order and issues later on would not be able to be resolved -- custom orders typically don't allow for refunds or exchanges.
So my order went into production on November 15 and I received it on November 29th. The waiting time was so excruciating, and when the package arrived, the box was surprisingly so small and lightweight. The package contained the lehenga, a shimmering and pretty rose gold color [it looks more pink in the photo I attached here, but it's literally a light dusty coral in person] in a nice soft material with well-finished detailing, along with a Lashkaraa bag for the lehenga. The dress looks impressively like the online photos. The fitting was perfect, the design was simple but still stood out against the shiny fabric, and the inside of the dress was lined in satin. It's so soft and comfortable to wear. The dupatta is a nice net with little designs across the whole piece and a simple, clean border. I was stressed about the blouse fitting, especially the sleeves because I have big arms, but it was amazing. At no point did it feel tight or too loose and the cups were perfectly placed. Even extra material was left incase there needed to be any adjustments after receiving the product, but it fit amazingly. Definitely steam out the dress, do not attempt to iron at all because it is a very delicate fabric. I cannot wait to wear this dress to the reception -- it's sooo pretty and comfortable! Will definitely order more in the future. I will also be doing a full video review on ig for those who want to see the dress [@meeradoll].
